This Grade 2 listed building is next door Miles Ward Court and was purchased in December 2007. The building consisted of a shop and two flats. Foundation East submitted a bid for funding to renovate the building to create 2 affordable housing units and a retail unit to complement the units available at Miles Ward Court. 100% funding for the project was obtained from East of England Development Agencies Building Communities Fund.
As can be expected with an old building significant problems were encountered, the major one being insufficient foundations! Working with a very efficient team of builders, architects and surveyors the problems were overcome and the finished project was handed over to Foundation East at the end of June 2009. The property has been finished to a very high standard and pleasing comments have been received from letting agents and prospective tenants.
The shop unit will be let as part of the Miles Ward Court complex, but for retail as it has a shop front.
The flats will be let to the local people of Halesworth and surrounding area and preference will be given to key workers.
