Churchill Gowns on One Show
July is peak season when it comes to University graduation days. It's an important time therefore for Foundation East customer Churchill Gowns, who supply graduation attire made from recycled plastic to UK students and universities.
Churchill Gowns Managing Director, Oliver Adkins, appeared on the BBC's One Show programme as part of a feature on the costs of graduation day; which highlighted how the cost for students includes tickets, gowns and professional photos. Oliver highlighted how they are committed to doing things differently and offer students an alternative to inject choice into the industry.
Launched to the UK market in May 2018, Churchill Gowns is a supplier of high-quality graduation regalia to students, universities and tertiary institutions throughout the UK. It is committed to ethical manufacturing, environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The academic dress that it provides is more affordable than those of traditional suppliers. In fact, its products cost around 30% less to hire and around 80% less to buy than from other suppliers.
All of their gowns are made from 100% recycled plastic, meaning that for every gown manufactured the equivalent of 28 plastic bottles have been saved from ending up in landfill or the ocean. They are also committed to donating 10% of their profits back to educational and environmental charities.
By summer 2020 it aims to have expanded its range and grown its share of the market, by increasing the number of universities they can supply to.
