Foundation East Clients Attempt to Slay Dragons

12th September 2019 By Foundation East in News

BBC series, Dragon's Den, is currently airing its 17th series in which budding entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of investment experts. This series features no fewer than two Foundation East clients going head to head with the dragons in an attempt to secure investment…

Churchill Gowns

Launched to the UK market in May 2018, Churchill Gowns is a supplier of high-quality graduation regalia to students, universities and tertiary institutions throughout the UK. It is committed to ethical manufacturing, environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The academic dress that it provides is more affordable than those of traditional suppliers. In fact, its products cost around 30% less to hire and around 80% less to buy than from other suppliers.

All of their gowns are made from 100% recycled plastic, meaning that for every gown manufactured the equivalent of 28 plastic bottles have been saved from ending up in landfill or the ocean. They are also committed to donating 10% of their profits back to educational and environmental charities.

BeeBee Wraps

Mum-of-two Kath wanted to minimise her family's use of plastic and came up with the idea of making waxed cotton covers for her own use from her kitchen. From there it began to evolve from a hobby for Kath into a business and after enrolling on a Cambridge Social Ventures weekend, Foundation East were able to step in and provide her with the funding she needed to transform her venture into a fully fledged business. BeeBee Wraps now uses natural beeswax to produce an environmentally friendly alternative to cling film and plastic wrapping.
